Hygge & Hound

For a while now I’ve been looking at subscribing to a doggy subscription box for Cooper but with so many choices out there it’s hard to know which one to choose. That’s why when Gem over at Hygge & Hound offered to send us a box I was so excited as the concept with this one is a little different to a standard Dog Subscription Box.

What is Hygge?

Hygge (pronounced hue-guh not hoo-gah) is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cosy, charming or special.

What is Houndspace?

Gem realised that her dog walks were a comforting ritual that she looked forward to everyday and they offered her the perfect opportunity to dedicate time to herself, and her mind. Well Houndspace gives you exactly that time.

“MY LITTLE PACK GAVE ME CLARITY AT A TIME WHEN MY LIFE WAS TRANSITIONING. DESPITE THE ELEMENTS, THEY GOT ME OUT IN NATURE. MY HOUNDS HAVE TAUGHT ME THAT MY JOY, HAPPINESS AND SENSE OF SELF COME FROM LIFE’S SIMPLE PLEASURES: DELICIOUS TREATS, WARMING TEAS, NOSTALGIC SCENTS, NATURAL LIGHT, WRAPPING UP WARM, BEING IN NATURE, WALKING, FINDING TIME TO CREATE A MINDFUL SPACE AND DOING ALL OF THAT WITH MY BELOVEDS BY MY SIDE.”

What Makes It Different?

For a start this subscription box isn’t just for your Pooch but also contains items for you to.

“A MINDFULLY CURATED SEASONAL SUBSCRIPTION BOX FOR HUMAN AND HOUND.”

Not only that but this box fits through your letter box whilst still packing lots of goodies into it. I was really quite surprised at just how much was in the box when I opened it. You can tell it’s been very well thought through to make it special for both of you.

What’s Inside?

Firstly when I opened the box there was a wonderful smell that emanated from within, which turned out to be a combination of a Vanilla Scented Tea Light, The Holistic Dog Company’s – Zen Dogs – Herbal Tea for Dogs and a Bradley’s Organic White Tea & Camomile Tea for humans. I must admit I am yet to try Cooper on the Dog tea but will be sure to update you when I do. It’s supposedly good for Calmness and relieving anxiety which sounds perfect for nervous dogs especially around November time when fireworks are popping off every evening. The human tea however was perfect for relaxing whilst I was writing this post with the Vanilla scented tea light burning in the background. “Bliss”

Next There was a bag of Beautiful Joe’s 100% natural British Liver Treats. I’d never heard of them before but after researching them, they are an amazing company. For every bag you buy they give a bag to charity which is simply amazing. I will definitely be buying from them directly as Cooper adored these treats.

There was an adorable key ring stamped with the Hygge & Hound logo which I think is a fantastic way as you’re grabbing your key to take the dog/s out to remember to stop, breathe and take in everything around you. We’re all so absorbed in our phones and cameras sometimes it’s nice to put them all down and relax.

Very excitingly for Spring the box contained one of my Cotswold Pooch “Dancing Daffodils” Bandanas which “disclaimer” I didn’t receive in my own box, Gem very kindly substituted in the Dog tea for me instead.

Finally there were two cards, the first of which had a very appropriate quote on one side and a mindfulness challenge on the the reverse which invited you to join in with a “mindful walking with Dog 7 day challenge” which you can join in with over on Facebook.

The second card explained what to do with the final items in the box, (I must admit I was a little confused as to what they where until I read it) The Card talked you through how to use your dogs muddy paws to create your own paw print stamp. I can’t wait to do this with Coops and be able to stamp his actual paw print onto every Birthday card I send!

How Much?

You can either purchase a one off seasonal box for just £19 or subscribe for the year for £72 and receive 4 seasonally curated boxes throughout the year. As a seasonal subscriber you also might get the odd additional seasonal surprise and membership to their exclusive Houndspace online hub.

Verdict…

I absolutely adore the concept of this subscription box. Taking time out is so important in our busy lives and I know as a fact I’m terrible for doing so as have always got a million & one things to do. This box really does help to encourage you to take a step back and appreciate the time we have with our dogs.

I’d love to hear what you think about the concept of this box and if you’d consider signing up or just purchasing a one off box for your self or a gift.

Lots of love and happy adventures,

Fi & Coops xXx

“WE INVITE YOU TO GRAB YOUR HOUND, COME ALONG AND JOIN US, SLOW WITH US AND GROW WITH US… WE’D LOVE NOTHING MORE THAN TO WELCOME YOU AND SUPPORT YOUR PURSUIT OF HYGGE AND HOUNDSPACE.”

“Disclaimer- this box was gifted to me from Hygge & Hound with no prior ask for me to write a blog on it. I adore the box and chose to feature it on my blog. The fact my own products were featured in the Spring box only supports how much I adore the ethos of the brand as I wouldn’t collaborate with a brand I didn’t wholeheartedly believe in.”
